Re:Kirk 7 Months ago
The Kytnar call was the correct one but the Bouma call was a joke and the call on Wright was just ridiculous, especially frustrating as it was so late in the game (a Kirk specialty). He was looking right at Gally when he was driven head first into the boards but it was the ref on the the other side of the rink that had to make the obvious call. The players and fans deserve better than a ref who only gets 25% of his calls right.

I was sure Kirk reffed the Memorial Cup final in 2007, but it was Rehman.

No question, Kirk is a tool. There's a reason he never gets promoted outta the Dub. Perhaps we should all get in touch with the league and heap our praises on Mr Kirk, get him a "promotion".

As much as a dislike Kirk, I think Benbow is worse.

I'm glad that so many other people cringe when he steps on the ice too. One of the two current Dub refs I know, and you don't remember referee names too often. Other is Thiessen, but I can't remember if it's because he sucks or I've just seen him ref so many games.

There has never been a worse ref than Rehman. When I saw him doing an NHL game I laughed at it, then it brought me down to realise how incompetent NHL officiating has become if he's given a shot at it.

Re:Kirk 7 Months ago
I know 90% of our regular referees by their first and last names and use them frequently ... Matt Kirk rivals (and is trying to pass) Kyle Rehman and Chris Savage for ineptitude. Add Ryan Benbow to that mix as he put together a simply awful game the other night and seems to be following in Rehman and Kirk's footsteps.. something it felt like Sean Raphael was doing, but his last two outings have been some excellent games where the reffing was virtually invisible for both of the games and did not get in the way. So I have high hopes for him.

As the others said here, Kirk is aways good for one or twelve phantom calls every game and seems to have a real bias versus the Giants. Now that may be just a bit homerism, but he is too consistently that way to suspect anything different. Kirk likes to be the star and he is frequently the goat in my mind and the league needs to do something about him.

I'm sure the Giants have raised as question of bias with the league over some of his calls. I'm still not sure how a good hard check by Wright becomes hooking though

A few of us in N thought Everett's game was really well called given who was playing zebra. We thought he musta been somewhere else because he really did not make any of us want to actually jump over the boards. That said we still would prefer to see him nowhere near a Dub rink. Maybe he could be traded to the Q?
